Who Won the Gold Ball in Lotto 6/49 in Quebec?

The most recent major Quebec winner of the Lotto 6/49 Gold Ball was Claude Boucher, who won $46,296,296.60 in the draw held on August 27, 2025. His winning Gold Ball Draw number was 77214145-02, and he bought the ticket online through Loto-Québec’s gaming site.

Claude Boucher’s $46 Million Win

Claude Boucher became an instant multimillionaire when his Gold Ball Draw number matched the number selected in the August 27, 2025 draw. Because the Gold Ball—not the white ball—was drawn, he won the growing jackpot instead of the guaranteed $1 million prize.

Loto-Québec identified Boucher as a resident of the Bois-Francs region of Quebec. He purchased the winning ticket online, which made it possible for the prize to be confirmed directly through his registered account.

How the Gold Ball Draw Works

Every Lotto 6/49 ticket includes a Gold Ball Draw number. In each draw, one number is selected, so there is always a Gold Ball winner. The winner either receives $1 million if the white ball is drawn or the accumulated jackpot if the Gold Ball is drawn.

The Gold Ball jackpot starts at $10 million and can grow to just over $60 million. For example, in the latest available results, the Gold Ball was worth $22 million, while the winning Gold Ball ticket had been sold in Ontario rather than Quebec.

Quebec’s Earlier Gold Ball Winners

Quebec has had several notable Gold Ball winners. Jean-Marc Poirier, from the Lanaudière region, won $36 million in the October 29, 2022 draw. He became the first Canadian to win a Gold Ball jackpot with a ticket purchased in Quebec.

Poirier’s win showed how large the Gold Ball prize can become. Like Boucher’s later $46 million win, it demonstrated that a single Lotto 6/49 ticket can turn a regular player into a multimillionaire overnight.

What This Means for Quebec Players

Quebec players can win the Gold Ball by purchasing a Lotto 6/49 ticket from a retailer or online through Loto-Québec. Each ticket gives the buyer a chance at the Classic Jackpot as well as an entry into the separate Gold Ball Draw.

The most recent results show that the Gold Ball jackpot can change from draw to draw. While the latest winning Gold Ball ticket was sold in Ontario, Quebec players have previously won major Gold Ball jackpots, including Poirier’s $36 million prize and Boucher’s $46 million prize.
